22 “Have you entered the treasury of snow,
Or have you seen the treasury of hail,
23 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
For the day of battle and war?
Job 38:22-23 NKJV
A treasury is a place where stores of wealth are kept. Imagine a giant vault in heaven filled with snow that’s released whenever God sees fit. What an awesome vision! Last night, prayers from both kids and adults were answered as beautiful snow was released and fell to the earth.
Snow offers so many benefits to the earth. It helps regulate the earth’s temperature and acts as insulation for the roots of plants and trees, and snow shields the soil from erosion and helps maintain its fertility. It replenishes rivers, lakes, and streams.
Snow also benefits us. It can lift our spirits and bring joy when we see it and play in it. When you look at the beauty of the ground covered in a soft, white blanket, imagine your heart being covered too. Just like the snow cools the earth, it can fill, renew, and refresh our hearts, clearing away bitterness, hurt, and grief.
Some days can be especially hard, and those days can stack up like the snowflakes.
In Job 38:23, God says He reserves snow for times of battle and war. Let the snow go to war for your heart and battle against the stuff that makes it hurt and makes your heart hard. Take a "snow day" to chill out and reflect on the beauty around you and in your life.
Protect your heart, ask God to guard it, insulating it with His love. Thank God for working out the hard days and the good days for your good.
1 “My heart pounds as I think of this.
It trembles within me.
6 “He directs the snow to fall on the earth
and tells the rain to pour down.
7 Then everyone stops working
so they can watch His power.
8 The wild animals take cover
and stay inside their dens.
23 We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty;
but even though He is just and righteous,
He does not destroy us.
24 No wonder people everywhere fear Him.
All who are wise show Him reverence.”
Job 37:1,6-8,23-24 NLT
