When you give, do not let your left hand know what your right hand gives. 4 Your giving should be in secret. Then your Father Who sees in secret will reward you.
Matthew 6:3-4
When you pray, go into a room by yourself. After you have shut the door, pray to your Father Who is in secret. Then your Father Who sees in secret will reward you.
Matthew 6:6
And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. Matthew 6:16
The sixth chapter of Matthew is a part of Jesus teaching on the mountain side. This whole chapter is about prayer, fasting and giving. We have decided as a body of believers at River City Church, that we will spend the next 40 days leading up to Easter doing this.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
Our goal is to pray and fast 40 days, set aside funds wherever we can and give God our best offering on Easter Sunday.
Our church has a lot of ministry to do, and a lot of preparations for ministry and we are believing for God to provide what we need to get it done. We also believe that as we give, God will move others from outside the church to give also.
Our church members are pressing into God as much as we can in these 40 days to see miracles, breakthroughs, strongholds broken, salvations, healings, and deliverances. How badly we want to see these things determines how much we will press in with these three disciplines.
Finally, as we spend these days pressing in, be aware that the enemy will be pressing back. He can't stop us unless we let him. We WON"T let him. We will clear our hearts and minds of the fiery darts from the enemy, we will hold up our shield of faith to block the other darts that will be coming, and we will put on the whole armor of God and TRUST Him knowing that He WILL respond to our seeking.
We remain confident that we WILL see the Goodness of God in the land of the living . Psalm 27:13
Psalm 27 would be an excellent chapter to meditate on today as we press in, and continue to pray for each other, lifting each other up and giving God Glory and heartfelt thanks for all He has done, is doing, and will do!
