Renewed, Refreshed and Restored

Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. Philemon 1:7

Renew, Refresh, Restore! This was a word given to our church on January 1, 2017 from God, through his servant, Joyce walls.

Our church body has been praying these words over our congregation, our homes and our city faithfully this year. We have been excited to see God at work and we give Him praise for it all.

One of my favorite things to do is to re-purpose or refresh items that others would view as old, ugly, or just junk. Recently I was able to refresh this wooden table as we prepared our house to move into. This is a sturdy "real wood" table. Finding an older one to refresh is much easier on the budget than buying a new one.

I started by sanding the top of the table. This photo is a before sanding and after sanding of the top of the table.

I wanted a weathered gray top and a white base for the table but after sanding the red tones were still there and it gave the top a purple-ish look so I applied a dark brown stain instead. I really like how the table turned out with the dark stain. The next steps were the easiest! I taped off the table top and used Rust-Oleum white spray paint in the satin finish. It took about 7 cans for the table base and chairs. It would have been better with 8 cans but I was too lazy to go back to the store! I finished the table top with a clear water based top coat.

Be patient and turn chairs upside down to paint bottom half and only when completely covered, turn over and finish. This project took a little time and muscle but it was so worth it!

This is the finished table, and the tray and rooster are some items that got refreshed and re-purposed too!

Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came to earth to give us an abundant life. If you feel like you haven't been experiencing this kind of life, I pray you will surrender yourself to Jesus now and let Him renew, refresh, and restore you.

He is the potter, and we are the clay, He formed you in your mother's womb and He has a great plan for you. Ask Him to bring it about in your life!
