The Call to Kingly Intercession

And there is none that calls upon your name, that stirs up himself to take hold of you: for you have hid your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities.

Isaiah 64:7

If you are a parent to multiple children I bet you have found yourself saying to one of them, "Don't get him/her stirred up!" We know once someone is stirred up we are in for it for a while until they decide to calm down. As God looks down at His children, He may be hoping that some of us would get stirred up!

I find myself falling into the trap of easy prayer, convenient prayer, quick prayer. I pray some here I pray some there, and I do it all throughout the day so I justify that I am communing with God all day. But have I moved Him? Have I layed hold of Him? Did I come to Him like my life or someone else's depended on it? Do we forget that it does? He wants communion with us all through our day but He wants our hearts to feel what His heart feels too. We are His ambassadors here on earth to carry out His will and plans. We have to lay hold of that will and those plans and bring them here through prayer. Travailing prayer.

To travail is to be troubled, sorrowful, in agony, intense pain or distress. In other words, what is a pain and burden in the heart of God concerning the people becomes a pain and burden upon the heart of the intercessor. Micah 1:8

Why do we have to travail? Because the enemy is always warring against God's will.

To travail is to birth something in the Spiritual or to go to war in the Spiritual. We know in the natural there is travailing before a birth, the same is true in the Spiritual. Whether God has called you to travail in warfare or to travail for the birth of something in you or someone else, stir yourself to take hold of God.

Martin Luther said, " Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness. "

Lay hold of all of His resources that He is so willing to give us and bring them here to earth to be used to build His kingdom.
