Fix My Eyes on You

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Matthew 24:37

I have been thinking a lot about about our Lord returning to gather His people. There is an urgency in my spririt to talk to others about it. Many well studied, Spirit filled men and women of God believe that we are down to the last months of living on this earth. I have to be honest and say that I enjoy my life here on earth. I have one daughter who is planning a wedding, and one daughter that is planning what to put in her dorm room, and one daughter that just wants to put on gymnastic shows for her family.

Then I remember Matthew 24:37-39

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

I love my husband and children and all my family. It is a precious gift from God to have these relationships, because we won't have them when our Lord returns. We will all be sons and daughters of the Father. As much as I desire to see my daughters marry and have children for me to spoil, as much as I want to enjoy my life from young to old with my husband, I have to fix my eyes on Jesus. I have to trust that what He has for me is better than I can even imagine. It's only because I can't even imagine the GREAT things of God, that I cling to what I already have.

However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—

1 Corinthians 2:9

I am concerned for those who don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior even if they are not concerned for themselves. That is what God has put in us, because it is His desire that none be lost but ALL would come to salvation. (2 Peter 3:9)

Even though God means for us to enjoy our lives here, we have to remember what it's all about. It's about sharing the Good News of the Gospel with others, it's about our heart having the same desire as God's heart, that none would perish without knowing Him and having eternal salvation. He has commissioned us!
